FRAME IS APPROXXIMATELY 28.5 INCHES HIGH X 24.5 INCHES WIDE. Artist Biography : Born in 1928, Dorothy grew up in Northern California, where she found her first love, painting light and color. After attending college with a major in art, she continued her studies under the guidance of artists William Ward of Los Altos, and Henry Hensche of Cape Cod. She is truly an American Artist with experiences throughout the world. Dorothy has had one-woman shows in galleries in San Francisco, Carmel, Irvine, Newport Beach, Palm Springs, Beverly Hills, New Orleans, and Barbizon, France. Her paintings are currently on display at the Cohen Abee Gallery in San Francisco, and New Masters Gallery in Carmel, California. Additionally, Dorothy’s lithographs have been sold as part of the Curator’s Collection, representing Carnival Cruise Lines. She is a charter member of the Women in the Arts Museum in Washington DC with her works are included in the museum’s Library Research Center. She mastered the glazing techniques that illustrates her pieces with their radiant and colorful qualities. By thinning down her oils with glaze, she applies color in layers, giving her work the lightness and spontaneity of watercolors, but with the added depth and expression of oils. Most of her art are Finished with a palette knife for astounding details. She has been selling her paintings for the past thirty years, and in that time has proven to be very popular with collectors. Her work has been shown throughout the U.S. and Europe, including Union Square Galleries in San Francisco.
