The FED 2 was in production from 1955 through 1970. More than 1.6 million were produced. The first camera in this auction, a FED 2 is from the last production year of this model, 1970. Includes the camera, which is in excellent condition, the camera case, full documentation (passport) and most interestingly, a 35mm film cassette….containing film. Probably unexposed as the tapered tongue is visible. Additionally, there is a message, hand written on the top & bottom edge of the camera back. I wish I could read the message…but I don’t read Russian. Different lenses were used on these cameras. This one comes with an Industar N-61, 52mm, f2.8. All speeds work, the shutter curtains are in excellent condition…no wrinkles. The camera back is a bit difficult to remove compared to the many Russian cameras I have or had. But it does come off. The only flaw is at the upper left hand corner of the camera back, the vulcanite is very, very slightly coming off. It is so small, it is hardly noticeable and can be re glued. The second camera in this auction, also a FED 2 is from the first year of production, 1955. It, as it’s younger brother, is also in excellent physical condition. No scratches or dents. One curtain of the focal plane is a bit wrinkled. Both the “B” and 1/25 do not work properly. The other speeds do. One plus with this camera is the engraved inscription on the camera top. It was only on the very early production of the 1st model. The translation, into English means: Made in the plant named F. E. Dzerzhinsky.It has a FED 50mm, f3.5 lens in excellent condition. Also, the vulcanite is perfect. And, as it’s younger brother, the camera back is a bit difficult to remove, though a bit more difficult. But, it does come off. The first 9 photos are for the newer model FED 2. The next 5 are for the older model. Thanks for looking…..and remember THIS AUCTION IS FOR A PAIR OF FED 2 CAMERAS.
